A cardiac care unit (CCU) is a specialized hospital ward designed to treat people with serious or acute heart problems. 

People who undergo heart surgery also are placed in the CCU as they recover. 

These wards are equipped to provide specialized treatment for heart conditions and are staffed with medical personnel trained in cardiac care.

In many hospitals, CCUs treat a growing number of patients who, in addition to cardiovascular disease, have other chronic health issues that require management. Nurses, technicians, and physicians who have been specially trained to take care of people with serious cardiac conditions attend to patients 24 hours a day, in a much higher staff-to-patient ratio than in a typical hospital unit. 

All patients admitted to the CCU are placed on a cardiac monitor, which records and analyzes each beat of the heart and will sound an alarm to alert the staff if serious arrhythmias occur.

At Nasaaem pharmacy in addition to pharmaceutical services, we are offering a unique service to our patients through the “Clinical Pharmacy” department.
Clinical pharmacy provides a comprehensive therapeutic care by being oriented towards the chemistry, synthesis and preparation of drugs to use the most effective treatment for each patient.

The department is equipped with:
Beds connected directly to an oxygen source and a central suction system.

• Equipments which are necessary for critical situations handling such as; Defibrillator, defibrillators, monitors, electrocardiogram, blood gas monitor.
• Special team of cardiologists to work in emergencies.
• A trauma team consisting of a neurosurgeon, a general surgeon, an intensive care specialist and an orthopedic surgeon, are required immediately to deal with any critical trauma situation upon arrival.
• All diagnostic services (radiology - laboratory - catheter ...) are available 24 hours in cooperation with the intensive care unit to ensure that the correct decisions are taken while dealing with sensitive cases.

An intensive care unit (ICU), also known as an intensive therapy unit or intensive treatment unit (ITU) or critical care unit (CCU), is a special department that provides intensive care medicine.

Intensive care unit cater to patients with severe or life-threatening illnesses and injuries, which require constant care, close supervision from life support equipment and medication in order to ensure normal bodily functions. It is staffed by highly trained physicians, nurses and respiratory therapists who specialize in caring for critically ill patients. ICU is also distinguished from general hospital wards by a higher staff-to-patient ratio and access to advanced medical resources and equipment that is not routinely available elsewhere. 

Common conditions that are treated within ICU include acute respiratory distress syndrome, septic shock, and other life-threatening conditions.

Patients may be referred directly from an emergency department or from a ward if they rapidly deteriorate, or immediately after surgery if the surgery is very invasive and the patient is at high risk of complications. 

It contains 22 beds, all beds are connected to the medical gas network and a monitor to measure vital signs, and a dialysis device has been added to the unit.

Nasaaem Hospital has 6 operation rooms, which are designed according to the latest international guidelines, taking into account infection control measures, in addition to all sterilization devices and tools.

(Different types of rooms are available with different equipment; they are intended for major and / or minor surgeries.

Newborn babies who need intensive medical care are often put in a special area of the hospital called the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

The NICU has advanced technology and trained healthcare professionals to give special care for the tiniest patients. NICUs may also care areas for babies who are not as sick but do need specialized nursing care.

Highly advanced resuscitation equipment is available for the treatment of all new born babies, including specialist incubators for critical care, phototherapy, and Dina map pulsoximeter, a machine that allows us to measure blood gasses through the skin without having to take a sample of Blood.

Cardiac catheterization (also called cardiac cath or coronary angiogram) is an invasive imaging procedure that allows your doctor to evaluate your heart function. Cardiac catheterization is used to:

• Evaluate or confirm the presence of coronary artery disease, valve disease or disease of the Aorta
• Evaluate heart muscle function
• Determine the need for further treatment (such as an interventional procedure or coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG surgery)

A gastrointestinal and hepatic intensive care unit is very close to the endoscopy unit.
